I offer a variety of services to help you make your manuscript the best it can be: beta reading, sensitivity reading, line editing, and copy editing. Not sure what your writing needs? I can take a look at your document and let you know which would be the best choice.
Please also check out the “Sample Edits & Other Things” section at the bottom of this page to ensure we’d be a good fit to work together.
Beta reading is a great way to get feedback on your book before you move on to editing. Hiring beta readers is like having a test audience for your book so you can see if it will resonate with your target audience.
Beta reading should not be performed on your first draft—you should revise at least once before sending your work to a beta reader. The more polished your draft is, the better the feedback I can give you.
When I beta read your book, I send it back with a Beta Reading Report that evaluates both my overall enjoyment of the book as a reader, as well as elements like:
Characters
Setting and worldbuilding
Pacing
Plot holes and inconsistencies
Readability
Genre conventions
You can also ask me to focus on up to 3 specific aspects of your story, such as whether a certain character works well or whether you need more (or less) of a certain type of scene. Each of these Author Focus Requests costs an extra $5. Please note that Author Focus Requests cannot cover items that require a sensitivity read.
Pricing:
$30 per 10,000 words for manuscripts up to 100,000 words
$5 extra per Author Focus Request (up to 3 requests)
If you’d like to combine beta reading and sensitivity reading: $40 per 10,000 words
Contact me for custom pricing for manuscripts over 100,000 words
Sensitivity reading, also known as authenticity reading, focuses on ensuring your writing is accurate and respectful in regard to marginalized identities. This is particularly important if you don’t share an identity with the character(s) you’ve created—for example, if you’re an able-bodied person writing a disabled character.
When I sensitivity read your book, I leave comments regarding specific parts of your story—whether that be a chapter, a paragraph, or a sentence. I also send back a report that points out where you’ve represented marginalized identities well and where the representation could use more work, and I offer advice on sections that could be reworked.
I can sensitivity read for the following identities:
Religion: Catholicism, evangelical Christianity, general Christianity, religious deconstruction, conversion experiences
Disability and chronic illness: general chronic illness, chronic pain, chronic fatigue (ME/CFS), POTS and dysautonomia, mast cell disorders, Lyme disease, mobility aid use, COVID precautions
Mental health: anxiety, depression, OCD
If you need a sensitivity reader for other identities, please check out the following resources:
Binders Full of Sensitivity Readers (Facebook group)
Pricing:
$30 per 10,000 words for manuscripts up to 100,000 words
If you’d like me to read for more than 3 marginalized identities: $40/10,000 words
If you’d like to combine sensitivity reading and beta reading: $40 per 10,000 words

Line editing is sentence-level work aimed at improving the style and flow of your writing.
When I perform line edits, I go beyond making changes in your document—I also leave comments and suggestions to help you improve the style of your writing. I’ll focus on elements like:
Phrasing and word choice
Clarity and consistency
Repetition
Too much vs. not enough information
Telling vs. showing
Line editing does not include the mechanical fixes of copy editing. It comes before copy editing (but after beta reading, sensitivity reading, and/or developmental editing).
Pricing:
Starts at $0.015/word; every manuscript differs in how much editing it requires, so my final quote will be based on a sample edit
Copy editing is sentence-level work aimed at improving the technical aspects of your writing. I’ll address elements including the following:
Spelling
Grammar
Syntax
Punctuation
Capitalization
Tense
Consistency
Basic formatting (upon request, at extra charge)
Pricing:
Starts at $0.015/word; every manuscript differs in how much editing it requires, so my final quote will be based on a sample edit
I hope to start offering these services in 2026, so keep an eye on this space!
There are a few things you need to know before we work together:
Sample Edits
I offer free sample edits for line editing and copy editing. A sample edit helps both of us see whether we’d work well together and lets me provide you with a customized quote. Sample edits are not available for beta reading or sensitivity reading.
I will provide the following sample edits based on the length of your document:
500 words for documents between 5,000 and 10,000 words
1,000 words for documents over 10,000 words
No sample edits available for documents under 5,000 words
Contact me for a sample edit and custom quote!
Other Things:
All editing services start at a minimum price of $30. I work hard to keep my services as affordable as possible while also offering quality. I love working with indie authors, and I offer payment plans to help make editing more attainable when you’re self-publishing.
If you want multiple services (e.g., beta reading and copy editing, line editing and copy editing), please reach out to learn more about package pricing.
I do not edit horror, thriller, erotica/smut, or high-spice books. I do not use AI as part of my editing, and I will not work with authors who have used or plan to use AI at any point in the writing or publishing process (including, but not limited to, outlining/planning, writing, editing, and cover design).
